That device is running a version of Android that is about five years old. It is possible to run Firefox for Android on it, but you will probbaly need to remove a lot of other apps first. You may also find that you cannot get important security and stability updates for that version of Android (or they may stop very soon).

You may have to look into getting a more up to date device.

I already uninstalled a few apps & disabled some others before using FF. Yesterday decided to enable & using the 'common' browser that comes with these tablets and it went on much more fluently. I disabled it again.

I'm not sure if by disabling something I've causing trouble with the OS but have serious doubts that this's the case.

Do you know if there's a FF version close to 31 that could be used to prove/disprove my conjecture?

PS. Is there a diagnostic tool that you know for testing this tablet (overall performance)?

I would not recomend installing an older version of Firefox and certainly not one that old. I do not know of any diagnostic tools that you can use.

Thanks Seburo for replying! I think that I understand your concerns here but, nontheless, I still want to have the opportunity of installing & testing the device on such circumstances. Can you or someone else that you might want to contact inform me of where that version of FF is located?

PS. There's no serious business to be conducted from that device, so have no stress with security here.
