Firefox no longer "sees" the ONLY printer connected to my computer! This has been going on for about a month. I can only "Print to .pdf". I want to print to my printer, not a file that I subsequently have to open and then print... why?

This doesn't sound like a browser issue. Have you tried with another browser, Chrome, Edge?

Go to your Windows printer and scanner settings. Is your printer listed there.

How are you supposed to be connected to the printer? WiFi? Did you by chance change you WiFi router in the past month? If so, your WiFi key would have changed. The WiFi key should be on the router label.

Check the settings on the printer, and go thru the setup to get the printer recognized and enter the proper WiFi key.

Noel, thanks for your response. Unfortunately this DOES seem to be a browser problem. Chrome and Microsoft Edge both see my printer as does every every other app on my computer. I print to it all the time.

Just not from Firefox!

The printer shows up in printer and scanner settings. I access it using Wi-Fi which works like a charm.

The ONLY place where my printer is not recognized is in Firefox which is why I asked this question. WHY DID FIREFOX STOP RECOGNIZING MY PRINTER?

Hi,

In that case, it's most likely profile related. All the business happens in the profile. Some type of profile corruption, addon corruption or addon conflict.

Have you tried with a fresh Firefox profile? Or restarting Firefox in safe mode.

Backup a copy of your entire Firefox profile folder to elsewhere.

Then try going to the Firefox help menu, and select "Restart with addons disabled". Test the printer accesss. If that doesn't work, try "Troubleshooting Information" where you will have an option to "Refresh" Firefox.

Again, see if you get a different result with the printer. If you do, you know you have to build a fresh profile. Don't worry about losing any data from the old profile. It's easy enough to transfer that stuff to the new profile.

I have the exact same problem, tried all the resolutions nothing fixed. I recently switched to Firefox, because chrome has been infected for months. I installed Firefox on a brand new Windows 10 Dell computer. The only extension I have added is Ad-Block. On the print page, It can only view networked computers, and cannot see any other devices. After searching online for a resolution, I noted several others who have the same problem. I hope this problem can be resolved. I love Firefox, but at this point, every time I have to print a page, I either copy the url and go into Microsoft Edge, or print to pdf, and then print the pdf file.

Try to reset the print prefs on the about:config page.

You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. You can accept the warning and click "I accept the risk!" to continue.
