Firfox just auto updated me to 71.0 64 bit and EVERYTHING vanished without warning. Is anything recoverable?
Basically, the 71.0 auto update hit me with no advance warming and told me that firefox was restarting. After the fact, I got the pop up notification that the install had wiped out everything; bookmarks, cookies, logins, stored info are now invisible. Was anything saved on my local drive and if so, how can I recover it? I'm trying to figure out the file system retroactively, but don't have the time and patience at this instant in time. Really loved Firefox since its inception... until now!
No, didn't use a Firefox sync account... I'm ancient and don't like my data floating around where I can't at least pretend to control it. Nothing shows up in the "profile manager"
"You have not lost any personal data or customizations. If you’ve already saved information to Firefox on this computer, it is still available in another Firefox installation." Is this the key? If so, where's the previous installation hiding?

Type about:profiles<enter> in the address bar.
How many profiles are listed?
How many should be there?
Also, open the profile folder in your file explorer.
Look on your desktop. Do you see a folder called; Old Firefox? Look inside. Look for the folder with the latest creation date.
