After update, half my folders are no longer visible

After the latest update, half the folders in Thunderbird are no longer visible. When I check the Profile in Windows Explorer they are all still where they belong, but they aren't in the Thunderbird window. It clearly knows they exist, because if I try to create a new subfolder in Thunderbird with the name of one of the old folders it says a subfolder of that name already exists... but I can't see it.
