I've searched the support knowledge base and read through every help item I can find using the terms search, email and headers, but am not finding anything about whether it is possible to search for specific emails based on data in email headers other than Subject, From, and the message body. I am hoping there is a way to search other email header fields such as Reply-to, Received, Return-Path, and Message-Id. Maybe others as well.

Is there a way to do this? If not, I would like to suggest it as a improvement for both the Global Search as well as the Quick Search functions.

Currently running Thunderbird 115.3.1.

Thanks!

Chosen solution

Open a Classic Search window (Ctrl+Shift+F), click the button that shows Subject, then Customize... at the bottom. Add a custom header such as Reply-to, and it will appear as an option along with Subject, From etc.

Further items can be added with the FiltaQuilla add-on.

You are not finding information because it does not exist. Fundamentally you can filter on odd headers, but you can not search on them.

Hi @sfhowes, Your answer was the solution I was looking for, and works great for any header field I want to search. Thank you very much!

@sfhowes. I have attempted several times now to give you a thumbs up based on your response. The event that is supposed to be triggered by clicking the thumbs up emoji does not seem to be working. Thanks again.
