Receiving a new Win7 box at work. I installed Firefox sync 1.4 and could not sync. I uninstalled and reinstalled with version 1.3.1.

Same problem, on a Mac Snow Leopard, on a Ubuntu linux and on a Mandriva linux box with a new profile I wanted to fill up trough firefox sync. All of them are running firefox 3.6.6 and firefox sync 1.4.
I'm just getting an "unknown error" message in the status bar (by the way, please restore the old interface or put some info on the status bar, with this new interface firefox sync is very unconfortable).
I have the same problem on both my computers - Win7 and XP, so its not fixed yet and must be a server or add-on problem. Also, I agree - give us an icon in the statusbar for sync... or, at least give us the ability to choose if we want one or not.
Still not working for me. I like the old status icon on bottom.
How many days do we have to wait that the synch work again ? why we have an icon when it's an error but no icon when all is ok like before ? no logic on this new interface...
I have the same problem. I have been successfully syncing between a couple Macs. I added a Windows system (running XP) and all was fine. Until today. I only get an error while syncing and no other explanation. Everything is up to date, using Firefox 3.6.6 and Sync 1.4
Can you help? I don't like the lack of status icon either. I couldn't figure out why I didn't get any status updates, and now all I get are the error icons. ???
same problem here!!! snow leopard
same here. linux fedora.
resetting/reconnecting/resyching do not solve it!!
Same problem with version 1.4.1 on a laptop with CentOS 5.5 and Firefox 3.6.4... How and WHEN will it be able to work ??? Most of all it is absolutely AWFUL not being able to have any log or report of what happens and why it is not working... Shitty interface !!!
Just completely uninstall Firefox and reinstall it. That did the trick for me :)
Windows 7 32-bit, Firefox 3.6.10, Firefox Sync 1.4.4:
Exception: info.obj is null JS Stack trace: ()@service.js:1343 < WrappedNotify()@util.js:115 < WrappedLock()@util.js:87 < WrappedCatch()@util.js:66 < sync()@service.js:1289 < (0)@sync.js:326
I'm on Snow Leopard on my Macbook and I have the same error too.
It just says "Recieved Unknown Error" whenever I try to get it to sync for the first time.
I hope it gets fixed soon seeing as Xmarks is going out of business
Migrating from Xmarks with 2 machines: Win 7 and Vista (both 64b) to FF Sync. I successfully log in from both but both machines relentless find "Error While Syncing". I followed all troubleshooting instructions with disabling of all other extensions and themes, multiple default resets of JavaScript, multiple resets of "safe" FF 3.610 columns and buttons. Nothing has helped.
Xmarks servers will carry us less than 90 days until this is debugged!

Despite Fox Sync update to 1.5 & despite FF 3.6.10 there is still no joy here using Win 7 64b nor Vista 64b. Despite disabling all other extensions, despite Master PW and FIPS... Still relentless " Error While Syncing"...( no further info)
Modified
Still no joy using FF 3612 with all plug-ins and extensions disabled.
I noticed that the replies on this thread seems to stop in Sep, 2010. Well, I also have this problem on my Ubuntu Firefox installation. I'm running Firefox 3.6.12 and Firefox Sync 1.5.1 so it shouldn't be because of my versions not being updated. Also when I click the error message in the Firefox status bar, all I get is a black error message area with a header from which I can click the 'Sync now' button at the top.
The strange thing is that Firefox Sync seems to work on my newly installed Windows 7 (same FF and FF Sync versions). But since I cannot sync my favorites from the old Ubuntu installation, this doesn't really help me.
It seems like a lot of people has had this problem for quite while. Has anyone come up with a solution or does anyone know if it is coming?
Best of luck to you all... Jacob B. N.
Installing Java caused this issue for me. Going to Tools > Addons > Disable Java Console > Restart Firefox > Test Firefox Sync > Re-enable Java Console > Restart Firefox > fixed the issue for me. If that doesn't work, try disabling other add ons and test to narrow down what might be causing the problem
