Using the manual proxy setting , I can't simply type the name of a website (for example google) without the .com. With "no proxy" chosen, I don't have to type .com, .net, etc. I thought this was a limitation of using a manual proxy but today discovered my father can use the manual proxy setting AND just type the name of a website in the address bar without the .com behind it. We're both using version 3.6.8. Both use HughesNet satellite for our internet provider. Is there something I need to change in about:config? Using a manual proxy increases my internet browsing but I'd like to be able to keep the feature of not typing .com. My keyword url (in about:config) is set to “http://www.google.com/search?btnI=I%27m+Feeling+Lucky&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&q= Thanks, Monica

Is your father using the same proxy?

There are possible issues with using a proxy and automatic fixup of an URL

Yes, my father is using the same proxy as I am. I read both links (thank you) but don't "think" they offer an answer. Monica
