My Firefox 3.7.10 wont display .jpegs. It will always ask whether to download the file or open with whatever application. .jpgs work fine every time, so it doesnt appear to be mime types. It happens on every server.

When i go ahead and tell firefox to open those files with itself, the same thing happens.. it just wont display .jpegs for some reason.

I had the same problem with version 3.6.7 and i deleted the mimtype.rdf file in the application data directory. It WORKED! but now it is happening again, and i deleted the same file, restarted, and it still wont display .jpegs.

You should never select Firefox if you get an "Open with" download dialog. That will never work, otherwise Firefox wouldn't ask. If you ticked to do that automatically then you need to reset that action or you end up with Firefox opening endless windows or tabs.

See "Reset Download Actions": http://kb.mozillazine.org/File_types_and_download_actions

A possible workaround is to use this extension:
