I was having a problem in version 3.6 after the last update, where typing into the search box in the upper right (regardless of which search engine was selected), would do nothing after I hit enter. (Worked fine before the last update).

I upgraded to FF4 and am still having the same problem. I was hoping it would be fixed.

I can enter text into the search box, and it even offers suggested text, but when I hit enter NOTHING happens. As a result, I have to open a new window or tab with the search engine of my choice and then enter the search term I am looking for.

Any help here would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).

  • Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

Thanks. Well, that was it. One of the Add-Ons was causing a problem. I went into safe mode and everything worked. I enabled the add-ons one at a time, and caught the problem. It was Interactive Personas.

Now it works fine.
