How are trying to close that one Tab?
By using the X on that tab?
My X on the tabs are not there anymore. How do I get them back
Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
- Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

The behaviour of the closing X is controlled by a variable which you access via about:config on the URL field. Search for the variable browser.tabs.closeButtons. With this marked/selected press enter and you can give it another value.
= 0 -> the X only on the active tab
= 1 -> the X on all tabs
= 2 -> no X at all
= 3 -> one common X far most to the right which closes the current tab
To close the current/active tab you can also type the ctrl+W key combination.
Modified
If You Want to Close only ONE tab out of your existing window, You just press CTRL + W on that opened tab & it will close automatically.........
