I have clicked Help- Checked for updates but it tells me no updates. It will check periodically for updates.. But I know I missed the last update ?

The Firefox update to 3.6.19 was for Mac OSX only, Windows and Linux versions didn't get that update. But due to a peculiarity with the server for full Firefox downloads, the Linux and Windows versions has to get a "number bump" to 3.6.19 - but it is the same as 3.6.18, only the version number differs. Same thing happened with the 5.0.1 update for Mac OSX.

Firefox 4 isn't supported any longer, Firefox 5 was released 6 weeks ago. But I wouldn't do anything right now, as far as installing a newer version, as I expect Firefox 6.0 to be released later today - unless there is delay that I am not aware of.

Check this page later today, like maybe after 5pm PDT - http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/new/ - and see if Firefox 6.0 is available then. Install that, instead of waiting for an update from 3.6.18 which might not be turned on for a few days after the 6.0 release.
