Hi, I have OSX 10.6.8. I want to upgrade from FF 3.6.20 to 6.0. Download of the dmg went fine. When I try to move the FF icon over the icon of the file (to copy the file/install the new FF) I get the error message: "The operation can’t be completed because the item “XUL” is in use".

How to I get around this so I can install FF 6.0?

If you have problems with updating or with the permissions then easiest is to download the full version and trash the currently installed version to do a clean install of the new version.

Download a new copy of the Firefox program and save the DMG file to the desktop

  • Trash the current Firefox application to do a clean (re-)install
  • Install the new version that you have downloaded
