I was running 3.0 and had parts of web pages not displayed, boxes showing up on pages that did display (e.g. a box in the search area of my home page and boxes around each e-mail in Yahoo mail). I upgraded to 6.0 and it is still happening.

The top of web pages do not display. Boxes show up in pages that do display. The search box on msn.com has a box inside it. Each e-mail in Yahoo mail is in a box. On my home page (msn.com) there are blank boxes for previous, pause, and next. Sometimes text appears as gibberish. This has occurred in both version 3 and 6. It is not occurring on my other laptop, which contains the same programs.

Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.

"Clear the Cache":

"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:

  • Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"

If you have increased the minimum font size then try the default setting "none" as a high value can cause issues like you described.

  • Tools > Options > Content : Fonts & Colors > Advanced > Minimum Font Size (none)
  • Tools > Options > Content : Fonts & Colors > Advanced > [X] "Allow pages to choose their own fonts, instead of my selections above"

  • Press F10 or tap the Alt key to bring up the "Menu Bar" temporarily if the Menu Bar is hidden.
  • Use "Firefox > Options" instead of "Tools > Options" if the menu bar is hidden.
