Poor visual quality on Firefox
I am new to Firefox as of approximately 3 days ago. I am having EXTREME difficulty with the visual quality. The letters on the screen look almost like dot matrix print and the images are not as sharp as Internet Explorer.
If I zoom in, it's uncomfortable seeing the Yahoo pages (or pages on other sites) so large. I changed the resolution, which makes the print smaller - so then I have two problems to deal with, resolution and size. I changed the DPI, which also didn't help. I changed the fonts in the Firefox Options, but that didn't help either.
Is there some way to just make the font type DARKER without zooming, fidgeting with the resolution, DPI and/or Firefox Options fonts?
I switched to Firefox based on recommendation of a friend who said that it is faster than IE, which is true, but the visual quality is VERY HARD on my eyes. My son, who is a teen, said it was uncomfortable for him to read content on the web pages when on Firefox.

You can enable ClearType system wide for all programs to make other programs like Firefox use it.

XP: Control Panel > Display > Appearance > Effects: "Use the following method to smooth edges of screen fonts"

Hi, cor-el, thanks for the info. I had already tried that previously and it doesn't help to improve the onscreen print quality on Firefox. If there was some way to just make the print on screen appear darker, that would be great. I've been tinkering with all sorts of settings in control panel, but nothing seems to work. At least Firefox is faster than IE.
You can use the NoSquint extension to set font sizes (text/page zoom) and text colors on web pages.
Thanks for your assistance.
