I am a regular user of Firefox and truly believe it is the best browser available and that is based off of performance and doesn't even take into account how I support your mission statement for the way that you guys operate. I have run into a slight problem with navigating on the Google website when using either the pen or touch input instead of scrolling it just highlights everything. This is occurring on 4 different touch PC's that I have. I have checked IE9 and this isn't any issue in that browser or in the IE10 metro browser. I prefer Firefox of IE any day but no scroll on one of my most used pages is driving me nuts because I seem to keep trying ever time the page opens. The scroll bars are an option but are far from optimal when using your finger although with a pen they are a snap any assistance with this would be greatly appreciated and thank you to everyone at Mozilla for providing the web to all of us.

Hello, I am looking for info about this issue too. When I do a Google search, I am unable to scroll by touch, the page is just highlighted. only seems to be Google related so far.

Thanks and hope to read your thoughts!

The problem about the behaviour of the scrollbar is that it actually seems to work upside-down, while windows contantly tries to make it work correctly, hence the jumping. I'm also unable to use touchscreen-scrolling like we used to. I have similar issues about the scrolling behaviour on two different windows7-machines since updating to the newest version of firefox. Unfortuntely I can't say which version I have used before (it was an older one though) but before the update touchscreen-scrolling worked. This is most apparent on any google-search-results, but it happens on a few other pages as well.

I have tracked the issue a bit further, and found that disabling JS on those pages and reloading actually restores the old scrolling-behaviour (i.e. touch-swipe scrolling and proper scrollbar-beahviour). Of course it also removes any JS-functions, so it is not a good workaround. At least Google will work again, and they have a reasonable JS-less version for display. This indicates some error in JS-handling with firefox in the current version.

Temporary solution: For now I'm using a little addon called "yesscript" to automaticly deactivate JS for pages which malfunction (including google).

I am using Windows 8 on an Asus VivoBook touchscreen laptop with Firefox 19.0.2. I was completely frustrated by this problem until I found the temporary fix here of using YesScript. I am so pleased that at least my Google search results scroll properly with this add-on. Of course, that doesn't help me on sites like WebMD, which require JS for functionality.

Please do something about this incompability! I love my touchscreen laptop (which many, many people have bought in the last few months), and I have been using and loving Firefox for many years. I don't relish the thought of switching to Internet Explorer, but touch scrolling works fine there.

Google search results now scroll properly in Firefox 19.0.2 even without YesScript. I assume Google changed something, since webmd still doesn't work.

Odd, it still doesn't work for me. Google and most google services (i.e. Google+ etc.) still don't scroll but highlight text instead, and scroolbars are useless too, just as before.

I'm using Firefox 20 now and this is still an issue for me 4 months later. I am going to try the add-on to see if that fixes the problem.

I know this isn't the best work around but I am using a combo of Yesscript and Click and Drag addons that seem to be working when visiting sites like WebMD or any other flashed run website.

Only little issue are for websites that are not flashed based, in order to select text you must click the toggle for the click and drag in order to do so....

hopefully they can get it to work without any addons

Another user here reporting the same problem. (Scrolling in Google results in Click-Drag)

Running Firefox 20.0.1 on Windows 8. Computer is an Acer Aspire V5-571PG touchscreen.

YesScript solved the problem for me, but hoping to see a proper fix for this problem at some point in the near future.

I have the same problem using ebay and google and I just gave up on google search and now use yahoo. I also have this problem when using my gmail too, and nothing seems to fix it. On ebay, when I open some search pages, and then open an item within the search--then go back to the search results--the cursor does the same thing--it highlights but doesn't scroll. If I hit refresh on the search page I can touch scroll the page again, but that's a pain to do each time when you do lot's of ebay business. I'm a big firefox fan, but this wastes time and is aggravating. I hope your people are able to figure this out.

I have this problem too... I am using Firefox 20.0.1 on a surface pro. I installed the add-on grab and drag. this can be used to set the default action to be scrolling while only enabling text selection by clicking off the grab and drag feature (using the handy icon added to the navigation panel). solved the problem with no negative side effects

Thanks, this sure beats hitting refresh over and over or trying to adjust the page using the sidebar (which sucks). Much appreciated!
