Good Morning I cannot use Private Browsing since downloading FF 20. I have Win7/64 bit Home Premium. I checked the Help articles, but this directs me to the "Firefox Button" at the top of the window. I do not have this button. I would be grateful for advice, as I find private Browsing very useful. Thanks for a brilliant, ever-improving Browser.

Hi raycer27 How to find Private Browsing now: <File> <New Private Window> Sounds simple, doesn't it? Well it stumped me too at first! Hope that helps.

Hi Robzere

Try reinstall your browser. The Private Browsing is a feature in the FF20 aswell, so it must be an installation issue. Let me know if it helps. If not try the following Start -> Control Panel -> Add/delete programs -> Right click on FF and click repair and run it.

Hi cityof ulysees and thanks for your swift, informative response. I am ashamed to say that I had not looked hard enough to find the new way to use Private browsing, which is much easier to use. If I had checked <File> <New Private Window> I would have found it before asking the question. My apologies and my thanks!

I did this and found no such tab allowing me to select "repair". I still would like to go back to the old way of being able to select it on my own.

Thanks so much. this worked great. Now, how do I 'restore' my open windows in my previous/non-private session? Thanks so much.

You can check if there as recently closed windows.

  • History > Recently Closed Tabs/Windows

Note that you do not have to close the normal window(s) when starting a New Private Window.
