Firefox 21.0 won't work with Barclays On-line Banking

more options

The site opens, and shows the account balance. When I go to account details, Firefox freezes. I've cleared the cache, and cleared cookies, as suggested - but it doesn't work. Barclays on-line banking is working fine using Google Chrome as a browser.

Chosen solution

Were you previously using the site with no problem in Firefox 20?

Is the page you're trying to load a regular web page or a PDF (e.g., statements often are PDFs)?

Could you try the site in Firefox's Safe Mode? That's a standard diagnostic tool to bypass interference by extensions (and some custom settings). More info: Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode.

You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using

Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled

In the dialog, click "Start in Safe Mode" (not Reset)

Any difference in how the site works?

Yes, the problem extension was AdBlock Plus. I found that you could configure this to disable itself when accessing the Barclays site. So not on-line banking works once more, and unwanted ads are still blocked on other sites.
