How do I turn off autocomplete within Web pages? Not the address bar autocomplete. Also, delete the cache.

I just want to go to a specific website where I have a login and type my username in the username box every single time instead of having the autocomplete entry come up. I don't want my username to be cached and I would like to delete the cache which exists. Thank you.

Use these steps to remove saved (form) data from a drop-down list:

  1. click the (empty) input field on the web page to open the drop-down list
  2. highlight an entry in the drop-down list
  3. press the Delete key (on Mac: Shift+Delete) to remove it.

Thank you, both of you. You've both been very helpful.

I did spot that we had a clear history menu item but initially, I couldn't work out why it was greyed out. I've just spotted that I'm running Firefox in Private Browsing mode permanently and you can't clear the history from there. That problem has been fixed. Many thanks.

What I didn't spot is that check box on the options page to Remember Search and Form History.
