Is there a preview/reading pane (as in Outlook) that allows reading before opening e-mail?

I am accustomed to Outlook Reading Pane that allows previewing e-mail, then delete before it is opened. Any such option with Thunderbird?

Press F8 to bring up the message pane. Note, this isn't just a preview, it's actually opening the message.
