When I try to get messages it says firstly the following "Login to server xxxxxxxxx.com with username xxxxxxxxx.com failed." Then I get the following "Login to server xxxxxxxxx.com with username xxxxxxxxx.com failed." Then asks for a new password.

I have changed the passwords at least 2 times. i have 4 accounts not working. All of them have the same problem as far as I can see.

Hi, I've been using Thunderbird for a few years and I've been familiar for longer. Generally, I've nothing but good things to say about it. I used to use Thunderbird for one purpose, I had one business domain with email accounts set up via Thunderbird. All other email accounts I used their respective websites. This worked very well and I got alot of use out of the unified inbox.

However, I now have another business and I've decided to start connecting my personal email accounts to the client as well.

This leaves me with the issue that, I'm now getting inundated with emails in the unified inbox. Is there anyway I can group mail accounts by domain.

For example, I currently have 4 domains across perhaps 15 or so accounts.

What I want is

Unified Inbox for allaccounts@BusinessDomain1.com Unified Inbox for allaccounts@BusinessDomain2.com Unified Inbox for allaccounts@personalemail1.com Unified Inbox for allaccounts@personalemail2.com

Thus, when I want to deal with Business 1 related emails I can just look at them and so on and so forth.

If this is not possible, the other option would be to exclude various accounts from the unified inbox is this possible?

Any thoughts on this will be very much appreciated. I have 2 email accounts with Yahoo and am using Thunderbird to access them. It used to work properly, but now I can receive emails on both accounts, but can only send emails on one of them. The other account gives me the error message: "Sending of the message failed. An error occurred while sending email. The mail server responded: Request failed; Mailbox unavailable. Please verify that your email address is correct in your account settings and try again." When I then look at the SMTP user name, it shows the name for the other account. When I change that user name to the correct name, I can then send emails on that account, but the process also changes the user name in the second account, such that it no longer allows sending emails. In other words, when I go to 'account settings' and set the SMTP user name for account 1, then go to account 2 settings, I find that the account 1 user name shows up. If I then change the account 2 user name and go back to look at the settings for account 1, I find that the SMTP user name in account 1 has changed to the same as I just changed in account 2. Additional info: Prior to this problem, I had gone into my emails on the Yahoo website and changed the password on both accounts. When I then opened Thunderbird it asked me for the new passwords for each account, as it normally does, and everything looked fine until I tried to send using the one account. Hi,

I put some messages into folders yesterday and then created another folder and dragged the first folder into it to become a subfolder.

When I did this, I saw the new folder but it couldn’t be expanded to show the subfolders.

All other mail clients showed the correct hierarchy except Thunderbird.

Why is this happening?

Secondly, I post comments on the thunderbird blog regularly but they never show up. Where are they disappearing to? Are you receiving them?

I never used conversation panel and I use Thunderbird since many years just for my e-mails. How can I close the conversation panel and get access to my e-mail. HI, Like many before me, I am trying to prevent message threading. I can set the default for NEW folders and accounts by changing the advanced settings. I have been unsuccessful in prevent threading in existing folders. I have tried the methods shown in https://support.mozilla.org/kb/message-threading-thunderbird AND THEY do not work. I have tried changing the view to "unthreaded" but that doesn't work.

Any suggestions on what might actually work would be very appreciated. David

From the moment i changed my mobile phone end august, which I used as internet connection for my 2 computers, connected by a usb cable to each computer, connection by cable is now on refused, so i had to install wifi connection which works. BUT => from my address michel.balawender@wanadoo.fr, host orange, thunderbird ask repetitively password, and refuses any sending. Once I had somebody to check : a new installation of thunderbird did work ... for 2 days. Then somebody did change my password at orange contract, (which caused hours for getting back again all messages); it worked for one day ... I have no problem with other mailing adresses for instance gmail. There after, my help message in french without any help from ubuntu forum. Thank you for your benevolence. Michel Balawender

Problème récurrent sur mes 2 pc "Échec de la connexion depuis le serveur smtp.orange avec le nom d'utilisateur "adresse mail". Saisir un nouveau mot de passe => annuler => réessayer"

Je reçois des mails, mais impossible d'en envoyer à partir de thunderbird. Un informaticien m'avait supprimé l'adresse mail chez orange, puis l'a re créée avec un nouveau mdp, sur chacun de mes pc.

Eh bien patatras, ça recommence sur le pc fixe d'abord (version thunderbird 102.11.0) puis le pc portable (version 115.16.0) est contaminé. Je suis passé entretemps de la 16.04 à la 18.04.6 sur le fixe, et suis sur la 20.04 sur le portable : je n'ai pas le sentiment que la version d'ubuntu soit concernée par le pb.

Il faut donc que je règle le pb créé par thunderbird. En attendant, je passe par l'application mail orange, ce qui est bien fastidieux.

J'ai fouillé sur le forum, sans trouver de piste. Merci pour votre bienveillance.

Hi, I hope someone can help me. I've been archiving my e-mail on my Synology NAS for a number of years now. However, my W10 desktop computer died last year and I've had to reinstall Thunderbird on a new W11 PC. I want to get access to all the archived e-mails on my NAS, that is, as they used to appear in Thunderbird under local folders year-by-year. I also want to be able to archive more recent e-mails to the same location. That is, I want to re-establish the same archiving process I had previously, complete with access to the old archives. I've tried to set up the same file path to the NAS under Local Folders in Thunderbird (as far as I can remember - I might not have it correct) but the old archives don't appear. in an attempt to identify the correct file path on the NAS, I've tried to archive a recent message as a test so I can see where it is stored - in Thunderbird the year folder appears under the NAS location under local folders as expected and I can see the message in the message window so it seems to be working but I can't see any new folders or files on the NAS - nothing modified or created with today's date. I'd be grateful for any assistance. Thanks, Kevin

Dear filter specialists,

On a Windows 10 computer with TB Portable 128.6 and .7, folders can no longer be selected in the filters as ‘Run filter on’ or ‘perform these Actions’: the menu is greyed out. The phenomenon occurs with all accounts: POP and local. Various email providers, ESET virus scanner, Windows firewall, FritzBox cable router. The local account contains almost 30 GB of emails. The existing filters work as long as they do not affect the accounts or folders: for example, tagging e-mails works. Existing filters with folder-actions cannot be re-configured and no folder actions are possible when creating a new filter.

I have performed an update check and restarted Windows, changed the compression limit from 500 to 5 MB and changed a few minor settings so that the config is rewritten.

What could this be? How do I solve the problem? A workaround if necessary.

I were not sure, where this could belong, therefore I chose "Settings".

I recently switched from K9 Mail to Thunderbird Mobile and were very happy to see, that there has been a migration option to transfer all the account settings from desktop to mobile version.

Well, not all accounts and not all settings were transferred and only the first QR code has been recognized whereas the other three were unrecognizable - but still a good move!

That brought me to the idea: Wouldn't it be nice, if there were some Thunderbird Sync, where all accounts, the server settings, the identities (!!), the signatures (!) and other settings (fonts, quoting etc) would be the same on all devices?

And where would be the place to promote such an idea?

Once I have pressed RESET I am left with the BOX which states Your Primary Password has been reset. But nowhere in the process have I been asked to create a new password, and no indication of what password has been rest.
