How can I delete or change entries within about:config?
After finding the solution to a problem that I was having with Firefox. Archived Solution: Firefox was downloading fast for my connection speed but now it is very slow, what can i do? (https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/668695)
I discovered that a few Preference Names, Type and Value were set incorrectly!
nglayout.initialpaint.delay (is set as a String; it should be an Integer)
content.notify.backoffcount (is set as a String; it should be an Integer)
How can I correct them? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you!

I think the best way might be to
Refresh Firefox {web link} is a LAST RESORT ! !
Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings
If you're having problems with Firefox, refreshing it can help. The refresh feature fixes many issues by restoring Firefox to its default state while saving your essential information like bookmarks, passwords, and open tabs.
These add-ons can be a great help by backing up and restoring Firefox
FEBE (Firefox Environment Backup Extension) {web link} FEBE allows you to quickly and easily backup your Firefox extensions, history, passwords, and more. In fact, it goes beyond just backing up -- It will actually rebuild your saved files individually into installable .xpi files. It will also make backup of files that you choose.
OPIE {web link} Import/Export extension preferences
As to doing your own settings in about:config, if you know what you are doing, or are following someone instructions, Be Careful. If you are not sure, or think something is off . . . . STOP ! !
All entries that are normal type are normal / factory settings. Anything in bold is not. In this case, you can right click and select Reset.

It is not recommended to make changes to the pref that you mention. Those are usually part of suggestion of speeding up Firefox and may work in some cases, but have the reverse effect in other cases.
You can cleanup the prefs to have a fresh start and delete possible user.js and numbered prefs-##.js files and rename (or delete) the prefs.js file to reset all prefs to the default value including prefs set via user.js and prefs that are no longer supported in the current Firefox release.
