how to enable the preview pages and search bar on the new tab page for my new tab page is all blank

When I was installing a security program on my labtop,for as the installing was complete the new tab page was all blank. I want the search bar which it will be google and have the preview pages back. Can you help?

Click the "gear" in the upper-right corner of the new tab page. Then select "Show your top sites".

If that doesn't fix it, maybe that is a "feature" of that security program?
