i have removed the addon that was related to it. there is nothing after firefox.exe location in the shortcut that i use(quick launch). i also tried uninstalling yessearches from control panel. it was removed from the installed programs, but i'm not sure if it was uninstalled correctly. these are all the suggestions that i found in the internet for getting rid of this annoying malware.

thanks in advance for your help

Hi, you can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software: Note that not all removal programs will detect all malware, so you may need to run several or all of them. After removal you may need to reset your home page and search, which you can do by running the add-on SearchReset. Further information can be found in the Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware article. Did this fix your problems? Please report back to us. Thank you!

i scanned my computer using most of the anti-malware tools mentioned by Scribe; 2 of them found some stuff, they might or might not have had a contribution to solving my problem. but my problem was only solved after setting tools:options:general:"when firefox starts" to show my home page and selecting a different home page. e.g. speedtest.net. what i used to do before was setting "show a blank page" anyhow my problem is solved for now
