firefox 50.0 history library is empty and won't record history
I am using Firefox 50.0 on my Mac. Recently upgraded to Sierra OS. My browsing history is gone. New sites are not recorded. I haven't changed any settings. Not in private mode. Bookmarks seem to be okay. What do I do? Should I remove and re-install firefox? Switch to Safari? (kidding)

Apologies for the delay, in order to use the places maintenance add on try these steps: I took a screencast you can watch or:
- Click on Add-ons in the Preferences menu
- Click on the Extensions tab on the left side
- Scroll to the new Places Maintence addon then click on the button "Preferences"
- There will be a new window, please click through the steps, then "Continue" and restart Firefox

Hi mhkalman,
Please check two things:
- Check that the places.sqlite file is still in your profile folder and make a copy of it, this is where your history is stored. Profiles - Where Firefox stores your bookmarks, passwords and other user data Make sure the folder profile name is the latest one that you are using
- Check out this add on to fix any corruption for your history database: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/fire.../?src=ss
Please post back with your results, we are happy to help and want to minimize data loss.
I don't quite get it. I found "places.sqlite" in my profile folder in 3nvfjxyu.default-1474661412903. I don't know what to do with this.
I added the add-on, but I don't know what to do with it.
So near ...

Thank you for your answer (s). I will save them. I actually refreshed Firefox and now it seems to be recording history. Old mhistory is gone but I can live with that.
