Meanwhile... what is the solution to the problem : Login to server imap.mail.yahoo.com failed?
Is there any solution to this problem? Other email clients work fine but I would prefer to use Thunderbird.
I've been having problems logging into my yahoo mail for the last couple of days, I've checked everything and its all set up right, I've been using Thunderbird for years with no problems and my other E-mail, GMX, is working perfectly, I'm on a Linux operating system.

I currently have this problem, I haven't seen a solution yet.
I can't find a solution and not getting any help from the forum - am thinking of buying Outlook despite using Thunderbird for a long as I can remember
Hi. I've been having the same issue - it suddenly started yesterday. I tried to re-enter passwords, re-create account, ...
The solution for it was to enable less secure apps to connect in gmail account - because I set my yahoo account as a backup in gmail account.
So, if you did the same thing - set yahoo account as a backup to some other mail account, enable less secure apps to connect to it in settings of the mail account respectively.
If this does not work try to enable less secure apps to connect in your yahoo account.
Hope this helps.

I'm on a desk top running Lubuntu I don't have this option
I use Fedora desktop. What do you mean by "I don't have this option"?

I don't have the setting to enable less secure apps.
You should have it - login to your email via browser, and go to Account info ->Account security if it's yahoo mail Settings->Forwarding and POP/IMAP->Enable IMAP or POP depending what you use if it's google mail.
I don't recall setting yahoo as a backup though where do I find this setting?
Weird. I did nothing and thunderbird started downloading messages again. It seems it is quite unstable.

Yes I found the setting but it didn't help, but since then the problem appears to have sorted itself out, I came back to my computer just now and all was working correctly.
Yahoo finally fixed their problem.

Yeah, maybe for me also it started to work because of other reason - it just mapped to the point when I enabled that flag in gmail account. Anyways, I'm very happy - I was about to install Evolution, which was making me sad.
I had this problem earlier & now don't know if I still have it as I am now locked out of Thunderbird. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
