firefox not showing up in available apps
I cannot set Firefox version ESR as default browser because it does not show up as available app in the Windows 10 settings window for Default apps. I can see Internet Explorer, Chrome and Edge.

You need to click the browser that is now set as default to change it.
Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.
What do you mean with 'click the browser that is now set as default'? In my case this is Chrome. You mean at the 'Default apps'? This does not change anything. Firefox does not show up in the list of available apps for browsing.
When I log in as an administrator than I can select Firefox! However good practice is that you always login as standard user without admin permissions. As a standard user I cannot select Firefox as default browser.
Hello, you have to install Firefox as a standard user to see it on the standard user account. It is weird, but this is how Windows works.
I have installed Firefox as a standard user. However doing this you will be asked to enter the admin credentials (This is how Windows 10 works;-) ). So it is impossible to install Firefox with your 'user' credentials only.
It would be nice when somebody of the Firefox technicians could answer my question. I am afraid this is impossible. Probably this will end my use of Firefox. Back to Chrome as default web browser.
By the way, when installing FF Quantum I encounter all sort of problems in using 1password and XMarks. That's why I installed FF ESR.

Hello MkII, Yes indeed this works. I am quite surprised that one can install FF without admin privileges. FF is my default browser now. Thanks a lot for your advise.
