When I receive an email with any attachment (word doc., PDF, .jpg, ZIPs etc) from various people, I cannot locate these attachments, except through the individual emails. For example in Eudora these document files (attachments to emails) were located in the folder called "attach" and I could see them all together without having to open hundreds individual emails to find the correct attachment. I have created in the "Option" section a folder for these attachments (D:\Program files\Thunderbird\attach) and activated "Save files to", but it doesn't work. All my incoming attachments for past few years are hidden somewhere on my computer and I can't find them. Even my Advanced file organizer program, which sees all the files, even in ZIP files, cant locate them. So, hoe can I see these attachment files? Please let me know. Thank you

Please confirm: When the email arrives with the attachment, did you select email so you can read it in Message Pane, then click on 'Save' button located to the right of the attachment ?

Hi, Thank you for the reply. I didn't noticed the 'Save' button located to the right of the attachment. Now, when I tried to save the attachment, it asks me for the folder, even when I already choose one in the Options. Then yes, it saves the picture(s) etc. The problem is that many attachments may have same name (coming even from different emails) and it asks if I want it overwrite it. It doesn't create additional copy for example: "picture a","picture a (1)","picture a (2)","picture a (3)" etc. It doesn't saves attachments automatically. Is there any way that Thunderbird would do this? If not, I would always have to manually go to the "attach" folder and compare attached documents and in case of PDF even open them. This is otherwise a bit archaic operation, which Eudora solved about 20 years ago. Please let me know, thanks.

I've found something which should work for you. An add-on extension called 'Filtaquilla' https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/addon/filtaquilla/?src=ss http://mesquilla.com/extensions/filtaquilla/

Once downloaded and installed, in the 'Add-ons' tab next to the FiltaQuilla name, there is an 'Options' button. You can select 'Save attachments to' then you can use this in a Message filter. Perform this action: 'Save Attachments To' any folder on computer.

This action saves all email attachments for the matched email (if it has any) to the selected folder, using the name provided by the attachment. If the file already exists, a unique variant of the file name will be used, typically by adding a number to the end of the name.
