I can view but not download pdf documents I previously uploaded to Google Drive. This problem is still apparent in FF 59.0.3 which I installed today (5 May 2018). I can download the pdf using Google Chrome. This problem persists even when running FF in Safe Mode and with my anti-virus switched off. All that happens when clicking the download button from GDrive is a tab opens but there is nothing in the window and nothing downloads. Help as I don't want to have to leave Mozilla/FF.

Hi, could you please try uninstalling this way please as there is a reason behind the madness : uninstall Firefox. Then Delete the Mozilla Firefox Folders in C:\Program Files , C:\Program Files(x86) & C:\ProgramData Then restart system. Then run Windows Disk Cleanup. (Note: This should be Pinned and run Weekly, If never done below expect 10's of gig's) Then run it again and click the button that says Cleanup System Files. Note: your Firefox Profile is saved. But you should make a back up before you do :

Reinstall with Current Release Firefox 59.0.3 with a Full Version Installer

So your Profile remains intact and all your settings but there is one setting I would like you to turn off please once your back up. Please Copy/Paste about:studies into the Address Bar then Enter. Click the bar to find out and poof, it is highlighted. Now the info that is gathered by the Check Box in the middle is the one I would like you to turn off please. The others can stay ticked as they send valuable info when you ask for Help like what Extensions you are running so we can diagnose issues with those and it shows your Video Card Drivers to us to see if any are corrupted. Which they are not, they look better than good.

Now you mentioned turning off your Anti-Virus would that be IBM Security Rapport or another ? What are you running as a Firewall please ?

Now I am not going to say this will fix it but hoping that new folders made and the full version installer make a difference.

If it does not have patience please and let us know and will come up with something like testing a new profile. Thanks.

Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.

Dear support

Temporary answer

Thank you? for the copious instructions. I shall print them and try to find the time to go through them. In response to your queries I run ESET NOD32 AV and the firewall installed with Win10 (whatever that is).

Thanks for the data so far

Hi, Welcome it is a list for sure.

Ok, running 2 anti-virus programs at the same time is a no go. Never Ever. A A/V and a Anti-malware Program is a yes. Ad-blockers also help.

Now, some info will not like but : There is security software like Avast, Kaspersky,BitDefender and ESET that intercept secure connections and send their own certificate.

Now as you notice nothing about downloads but since it basically sends out a handshake with that request also it maybe your issue. Or not. But I will have to ask you to explore their forum for anyone that has reported the same issue/s please :

The reinstall info I gave in the 1st post takes 7mins and is easy and loose nothing and get taught a few things.

So ya, do not know if it is Firefox or if it is Eset, start with Eset and info. Or 7min reinstall give ot take on how Win10 dislikes having it's System Disk Cleaned as there is literly 10's of gigs of wasted space waiting to be cleaned.

Hi PKshadow

Have just followed your instructions re uninstall Firefox and disk cleanup (twice) and have Firefox59.0.3 running again.

Have turned off ESET NOD32 AV whilst accessing pdf's prviously loaded onto Google Drive. I still cannot download them.

have tried to search ESET support pages but no luck so far and currently appear to be locked out of raising it as a subject. Will continue to try ESET.

Hi PKshadow,

As I can use Chrome to download the G Drive documents I don't think the problem lies with the only AV program I have running on my cmputer - ESET NOD32. If the AV was the problem surely it would affect any download attempted by ANY browser I used. By that logic I think the problem lies with Firefox - especially I have tried clearing the history, turning off my AV and the re-attempting to download from G Drive - without success.

I have also performed a clean re-install of Firefox without success. I became aware of this problem about 2 months ago.

Any further thoughts on solving it?
