I deleted in error and need this information back. Can someone tell me how to recover the information and back up all of my Firefox search history in individual files. I am also needing to bookmark it by months and create a file that is shown on my screen on the desktop. Thanks for any help.

You would need a backup copy of places.sqlite (bookmarks and history).

You can look at this utility to browse System Restore points to see if you can find a places.sqlite copy with this history.

You can use the button on the "Help -> Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page to go to the current Firefox profile folder or use the about:profiles page.

Location used for the main profile that keeps your personal data in "AppData\Roaming" (Root Directory on about:profiles).

  • C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\<profile>\

Note that Firefox needs to be closed when you replace files in the profile folder. Replacing places.sqlite with a older copy reverts the bookmarks to the state as stored in this copy, so you may want to backup the current bookmarks.
