Chosen solution

The Windows version of TB 45.8, all languages, is here:

https://archive.mozilla.org/pub/thunderbird/releases/45.8.0/win32/

If you ran TB 68 on the profile that you wish to use with 45, you may receive an error like the attached picture. In that case, Exit, and start TB 45 from the command line: Windowskey+R, then type

thunderbird.exe -p --allow-downgrade

to start Profile Manager, then select the desired profile, probably named default. If you wish to create a new profile for 45, the --allow switch is not needed.
