I updated when prompted to do so - from 68.12.1 to 78.9.0 on a Mac OS X 10.10.5. The new version opens, but does not load any information. I can see the accounts and folders, but get the spinning ball until I have to force quit. I've tried re-booting several times. Same thing happened in safe boot. I've downloaded both 68.12.1 and 78.9.1 - but they both want me to set up a new profile.

I can read my mail on other sources, but really need to access important mail that was saved in the previous version.

Also - I can not upgrade my OS - I use a few old apps for work.

I would appreciate any suggestions - I am fairly technically challenged

Thanks!

Does it improve if you disable access to Mac Contacts?

1. open Mac System preferences 2. type "privacy" 3. click privacy settings 4. click contacts 5. at the bottom click the lock and provide your password 6. uncheck the box for thunderbird 7. restart thunderbird
