Hi,

I had to format my pc, but made a copy os the relevant folders before. Is it possible to have the previous setup installed in the new formated pc? That is, I want the previous bookmarks, extentions, passwords, etc, that I had before formating. What are the necessary steps? make a new instalation and copy the necessary folders? Something else?...

Thanks in advance MLCPFLP

I take it you backed up the profile folder.

To restore the old setup, you can copy the files and folders from the backup into your current profile folder. For details of the files and folders to copy see Transferring data to a new profile, in particular the section on "Suggested profile contents to transfer"

Did you make a backup of the hidden Firefox Profile Folder ?

See http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox

"Application Data" in XP/Win2K and "AppData" in Vista/Windows 7 are hidden folders
See http://kb.mozillazine.org/Show_hidden_files_and_folders

Go to: Control Panel > Folder Options > "View" tab > under "Hidden files and folders", select "Show hidden files and folders" You may want to un-check the box "Hide extensions for known file types" to see the file extensions of all files

XP: C:\Documents and Settings\<user>\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\<profile>\
