My computer at home has windows 7 x64 bit and when i type something in the address bar it uses bing for keyword search, yet i have google for the search bar. At work i have xp and when i type type into that address bar, it uses google for the keyword search and i have google for that search bar.

How do i change my windows 7 to keyword search in the address bar with google? i think this is a bug

Chosen solution

Search bar was hijiacked by some Micro$oft windows update.. Can manually fix as follows:

a) access to about:config b) look for keyword.URL parameter c) replace entry (http://search.conduit.com/ResultsExt.aspx?ctid=CT2438727&SearchSource=2&q=) with this one: http://www.google.com/search?ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&sourceid=navclient&gfns=1&q=

Thank you for the answer that was helpful in finding a personalized solution to my problem, upon trying your answer it didn't work they way i wanted it to and upon further research found this webpage http://www.ghacks.net/2011/04/20/how-to-change-the-default-firefox-4-address-bar-search-engine/ that tells you how to change your default to whatever search you want. i particularly like the way chrome has one bar for search and addresses which is how i want my ff4 to work so i chose the google default one and that makes it work just like chrome.

Once again, thank you pifpouf for the answer.
