when I downloaded firefox from site I've got 32bit version although my linux is 62bit and my browser's user agent is correct: Opera/9.80 (X11; Linux x86_64) Presto/2.12.388 Version/12.11 when you run binary it gives you following error message:

XPCOMGlueLoad error for file /home/amnesia/firefox/libxpcom.so: libxul.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory Couldn't load XPCOM.

this error may lead you to solutions for bugs which produce same error and doesn't have anything to do with running 32bit version instead of 64bit. it took me about 3-4 months to found out the problem, so why this thread (http://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/890129) is closed when the problem still exists? when someone wants to fix the site?

If you download and install in SUDO SU mode you can access with Super User mode only.

change the file permission of the firefox folder.

otherwise install via synaptic.

firefox provides only 32 bit version not 64 bit version, eventhough it can installed in 64bit system

actually I was updating an older version not installing. firefox is available as 64bit for linux & osx:

Let me bump this question and reformulating it perhaps:

Why is the 64bit version of Firefox (for Linux) not easily available ? (same goes for a link to the source code).

The only way to find it is to search through the FTP site. Most people do not know where that is.
