I saved my profile from Win 8 & installed Linux MInt. I want to transfer my old profile to my Linux Mint system. None of the help information was even close to what I have.

Install this Extension.... https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/2848 You can export both password files as CSV files, then combine them in a text editor, then reimport them

Sorry, you can't "merge" Profiles or most of the individual files that are in a Profile. There are a few extensions that allow for the transfer or merge of specific Profile files or "features", as samad mentioned, but nothing that will do anywhere even close to most of the files. And those extensions would more than likely work from an operating Firefox installation of Firefox for doing an "export"; sounds like you have already gotten rid of your Windows 8 operating system on that PC.

These two support articles have the information you need for "moving" most of that Win 8 Firefox Profile into your new Linux Mint Firefox Profile.
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profiles-where-firefox-stores-user-data
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/back-and-restore-information-firefox-profiles

That second article tells you exactly which files in the Profile folder are safe to move into a new Profile; extensions and add-ons aren't included. Typically Plugins are unique to each operating system and aren't even installed in Firefox, thus wouldn't be in the Profile folder. As far as moving all your extensions over to Mint from a Windows installation goes, that is not advised. Doing so might result in an inoperable Firefox installation and the need for a new Profile, along with a lot of wasted time trying to fix what you broke trying to do so. Certain files in the Profile folder are unique for the operating system they were initially created on; the file name may differ on Windows vs Linux vs Mac installations. And the prefs.js file may have incorrect file paths for some preferences.

There is a tool called MozBackup that was created for backup and re-installation of Firefox and Thunderbird Profiles, but only on Windows operating systems, and doesn't "do" Linux or Mac.

Wouldn't this work (in theory) . Create a Different Email Address/Sync for each profile FYI-I use Abine "Mask Me" great product to trap spam (and trap who sold your data). http://abine.com/maskme/

After those Sync's have Completed. Create a NEW "Blank" Profile Use the "Pair Device" (as if it's a new CPU-thus why the 3-emaials)

Didn't sleep well, so I could be "Off", but seems "Pair Device" is for Multiple PCS--say your Cell Phone, Work CPU, Home CPU

You'd want to suck all that into one funnel, thus Pair seems to work.

OF COURSe you can't transfer the granular data (all the Jscript files,etc.). But thinik this should work. Let me know, gonna try myself Later. Thx

You should be able to use Sync to transfer data to the other computer. Note that Sync isn't meant to be used like this, so you need to check the Sync options to replace all data on the second computer with data on the Sync server.

You can also copy some files in the Firefox profile folder to an USB stick and paste those files in the profile folder on the other computer. That is not only safer, but also faster as you do not have to wait until the initial transfer to the Sync server has finished.
