Everytime I open a new tab a web address appears: " search.conduit.com/?ctid=CT3317458&octid=EB_ORIGINAL_CTID&SearchSource=69&CUI=&SSPV=&Lay=1&UM=2&UP=SP2CAF276B-EB12-413D-A6EF-DB0521AEAE93"; also, it has Bing as the default search engine. I have made Google the default search engine, deleted Bing, and have tried every help article to remove the cookies by this source, block any more cookies, deleted everything I can find with that name "Conduit" , etc. No matter what I do it keeps coming up each time I open a tab. Please help me get rid of this site for good!

Note that your System Details List shows that you have a user.js file in the profile folder to initialize some prefs on each start of Firefox.

The user.js file is only present if you or other software has created it, so normally it wouldn't be there. you can check its content with a plain text editor if you didn't create this file yourself.

The user.js file is read each time you start Firefox and initializes preferences to the value specified in this file, so preferences set via user.js can only be changed temporarily for the current session.

Rename or delete the prefs.js file and possible numbered prefs-##.js and user.js files to reset all prefs to the default value.

Sorry- I clicked the wrong solution! Another user suggested Ad Cleaner- very fast and easy. I was going to try this one first, but after reading all of the related articles was a little intimidated to start. So I went ahead and tried the 'easy' way and looks - so far- that it works. If problems reoccur, I will try this one as it looks like to core problem. Also, the ad cleaner found a number of register entries, etc that I probably would never have found. Thanks so much for helping.
