There are some strange looking certificates that I cannot seem to delete. Any suggestions?
There are some certificates that never delete from the Certificate Manager: Authorities. Many of them are with companies and government agencies that I do not recognize ever doing business with or interacting with in any way. Everytime that I select them and delete them, they always reappear when I reopen the View Certificates window (Firefox : Preferences: Advanced: Certificates : View Certificates : Authorities). How can I delete these?

The ones that say Builtin Object Token cannot be completely removed. The ones that say Software Security Device usually are saved as websites send you intermediate certificates that sign their actual site-specific certificate. If you delete those, they should eventually build back up over time.
I'm not sure of the exact process to get into the list of Builtin certificates (pre-trusted authorities), so I don't know whether to tell you "don't worry about it" or whether you should continue investigating.

By the way, I am using OSX 10.7.5 and Firefox 34.0.5 (just reinstalled last night).
I also found these exact same certificates on my smartphone but deleted them from that device.

You can edit the trust bits of built-in root certificates and uncheck all trust bits to prevent Firefox from using the certificate as a root certificate if you really want to. You can't remove a root certificate.
