I am trying to put my address book, abook.mab into win 7 Thunderbird.

I copied abook.mab from the old XP machine to:

c:\users\users\apdata\local\thunderbird\profiles\pu40g31c.default.

Is this where abook goes, or do I need to put it someplace else?

TIA for any assistance

You need to copy abook.mab to the profile folder, which is most easily found by selecting Help/Troubleshooting Information and clicking 'Show Folder' (exit TB before you copy the file). Its path is probably:

c:\users\username\appdata\roaming\thunderbird\profiles\pu40g31c.default

There are two default address books, called "Personal Address Book" and "Collected Addresses, named "abook.mab" and "history.mab", respectively. You need to copy both if you want both to appear.

More detailed information about Thunderbird Address Books files backup & recovery is available on MozillaZine.

Thank you everyone. When I clicked on problem solved, an error message appeared, so I'm just writing a reply. It worked perfectly and now so does Thunderbird.

Cheers!
