I deactivate the navigation bar and it keeps showing up each time I open a new window. How can I permanently keep it hidden?

Strange that, because after disabling the navigation bar configuration should apply to all windows, try disable navigation bar then restart firefox.

Also see this old question:

And you still can use this addon:

When I downloaded the Add-On, it kept the navigation bar on and I was then not even able to hide it. When I right-clicked on the toolbar, it showed the navigation bar as unchecked yet it was still up and running. It's like it's destined to stay on. Any other solution?

Hello Amigirl, you can check for problems with localstore.rdf file.

Yes this is a very frustrating issue. I uncheck the bar and the next time I start Firefox, it reappears. I also tried two different addons and neither worked. Just like the post by amigirl above when I tried "Hide Navigation Bar", it kept the navigation bar on and unable to be turned off. When I right-clicked on the toolbar, it showed the navigation bar as unchecked yet it was still up and running.

It is as if it has been decided that everyone MUST have the navigation bar appear at startup. If you turn it off manually, it is seen by Firefox as a "mistake" so it is turned back on at the next startup. VERY frustrating.
