I've tried to download several times. After I restart Thunderbird it does not appear under tools/options. I'm trying to sync up with my google calendar.

I'm also having an issue with a direct download of the file. Every time I download it's creating an xpi file extension and pops into an email???

What you describe matches what happens when the update process screwed up and the Lightning addon is causing problems.

- start Thunderbird in safe mode

 https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/safe-mode

- go to tools | addons - remove the lightning addon - restart thunderbird - if you need the lightning addon, add it back at tools | addons

Does that help?
