purpose of sync firefox
Hello;
Is the sync firefox account to be used only on 2 computers, e.g. part at work, part at home? and not e.g. to recover data after reconfiguring / setting up a new computer?
I forgot my computer to work, I had to reset my password because I haven't typed it in a long time; I don't have the passwords, I don't have any installed plugins, I don't have any browsing history;
if he knew I wouldn't be able to access to my data, I wouldn't have set up this account, because it gave me the illusion that in such a situation I would be able to continue working where I finished
Did I misjudge the features of this account? And after starting the computer on which I work every day I will have access to passwords or will they be erased there as well? If they are to be erased - is it better to make a copy of all passwords, history, etc. before connecting the computer to the network ?
Kind regards Norbert

Firefox Sync is intended to sync the data between multiple devices. For example, if you add a bookmark on your smartphone, it would be added to your laptop as well.
There are some changes being made to the Firefox Sync service to make it more reliable as a backup service, but it's not quite there yet since that was never its intention.
Regardless, resetting your Firefox Account password without using your account recovery key makes any data that's stored on the Firefox Sync servers unusable. The reason for this is because the data is encrypted using your account password. When you change your account password, it no longer matches what was used to encrypt your data.
