Spell check only works when I click a text field

I use FF 22 at work and I have to review text on occasion (not text that I'm entering). The thing is, while older versions of FF would load a box of text with misspellings automatically underlined, in FF 22 I have to manually click somewhere in the text field before it'll register misspellings. Not a huge deal but if I forget then I run the risk of sending things out misspelled. Is there any way to fix this (assuming anyone knows what I'm talking about)? I'm not opposed to fixing it via an Add-On though I'd prefer it be resolved without one if possible.

Spell check only work if the focus is set to the text area and if you need to click in the text area before it works then it sounds that the focus was previously elsewhere on the page.

There is usually not much to do about this unless there is code on the page that previously set the focus to the text area and now doesn't work.

How are you opening the pages (bookmarks, tiles on about:newtab, history)?

Are you clicking a link on other pages or do you use a bookmark?
Are these secure https pages or normal http pages?
