Only with hardware acceleration turned off, text will display properly in FireFox. To you it might seem that only little people are having this problem, but figures showing popularity prooves differently. There for:

YOU HAVE TO TURN THIS OFF BY DEFAULT.

I know little people who don't have this -very old!- problem. Please make haste. It's not the updates or extensions, people who use these are advanced users. Most users just browse. With unreadable text. Do the math.

Try to create a new Boolean pref on the about:config page via the right-click context menu with the name layout.paint_rects_separately and set the value to true and leave hardware acceleration enabled to see if that works.

That way you still have the benefit from hardware acceleration, but may not suffer from rendering issues.

Dear Corel,

Thanks for your very technical reply, but what you fail to see is that FireFox is THE ONLY BROWSER WITH THIS PROBLEM and that FIREFOX IS THE BROWSER WHO'S LOOSING THE MARKET AT TOP SPEED. Please Cor-elate that, stop giving technical advice to end users but solve the problem. Do not take this lite, as the fonts-messup-problem is verrry annoying to end users and has been around far too long now.

I love FireFox but if nothing changes, i'm sure that within a year FireFox isn't here anymore. The Google-search-deal comes to an end and with no funds and a browser that will only work good by some techies who will put in efford to troubleshoot stupendous technical issues, FireFox is doomed.

Please take this to a higher level and solve this.
