After closing firefox it hangs when attempting to start firefox again
Since update to Firefox 30 (now running Firefox 31) on two different PCs Firefox hangs on attempting to start the browser again. The firefox process closes when the browser closes, but appears to hang on restarting the browser. Manually closing the firefox process and then restarting Firefox allows the browser to start, but the restore session window appears every time this happens. This problem does not happen every time (just most of the time).
My Windows 8.1(b) PC exhibited this problem also on update to Firefox 30. but I removed a file in my profile (can't find the thread again that told me to do that) and the problem hasn't reoccurred on that PC again.

Hi Steve E, Thank you for your question. I understand that Firefox hangs when you close it and try to reopen it and it happens most of the time.
It may be the antivirus or toolbar, please see if this happens when you restart Firefox without addons. (From the three bar menu you can click on the three bar menu and click the question mark and "Restart Firefox without add ons...")
If you use Norton 360 2.0, Firefox may not close properly, resulting in multiple firefox.exe processes and symptoms of a locked places.sqlite file (blank homepage, missing bookmarks and history, inactive back/forward toolbar buttons) when you next reopen Firefox. [41] Update Norton 360 to the latest version. As a workaround, disable "Phishing Protection" in Norton's settings [42] or follow these instructions to manually remove the Norton anti-phishing toolbar from Firefox.
