Importing mail to 2nd Profile from another email program
I've created a secondary profile for my personal email. How do I import email messages from Outlook, outlook express or live mail int the 2nd profile? There isn't a tool bar in my second profile. I've installed the import/export addon and the profile manager. Neither seem to help
Chosen solution
The import feature doesn't seem to work at all on a 2nd profile. No luck whatsoever. Added a 2nd acct to my main profile. Exported my mail from Windows live mail to a desktop folder. Exported my contacts from Live mail as a csv file to the folder. The import/export add-on worked to import the mail folders. First I imported the mail (choosing all sub folders option). Then I imported the contacts. So I think I it worked... I have so much old mail its hard to confirm everything imported correctly.

Do you mean no menu bar Press F10. If you mean toolbar press F10 anyway T%hat displays the menu bar until you click on it.
On the view menu is the option for toolbars. Personally I turn them all on.

F10- great response! It loaded the toolbar. Never thought of that! Once it was loaded, I tried standard methods for importing mail and they all failed. Score 1 for the team, but we still ain't winning.

importing from the programs you mentioned requires them to be installed on the computer your installing from. In the case of outlook, the PST must be the one it uses by default.

Email is/ are installed on the computers I have. I have multiple computers, multiple email formats. Trying to switch all of my MSFT based emails to Thunderbird. In this case I have a computer with my personal email in Live Mail. I set up a default profile for my biz email and imported all of my outlook email successfully. Then I set up a secondary profile for my personal email. My personal email in this instance is using Windows live mail. I can't seem to import it. Tried importing it directly thur tools, import, etc. Also tried exporting form live mail to a file and then importing it. Neither worked. Thanks for your help
The guys never really got around to writing an import function for Windows Live mail. IF it is an IMAP account, simply adding the account to Thunderbird will see the mail downloaded from the server.
If not I wrote a blog post a few years ago on the topic that might help. Looking it up it was 4 years ago. Where has the time gone. http://thunderbirdtweaks.blogspot.com.au/2010/10/moving-from-windows-live-mail.html
Realized the import options are in another spot on the menu drop down. I am going to try a couple of methods and try your link too. Still getting used to Thunderbird and where stuff is. Will let you know if it works later this week. Thanks!
