did you over-ride my decision not to download new version?
Did you over-ride my decision NOT to download newer versions of firefox?
I will never update firefox until Norton password vault will work in it. All of a sudden this has disappeared from my browser. It happened the other day on my laptop too, and I hadn't updated that firefox version either. WHAT HAS HAPPENED???
DID YOU OVER-RIDE ALL MY CANCEL SELECTIONS TO THE CONSTANT REQUESTS FIREFOX HAS BEEN MAKING TO UPDATE IT?
PLEASE LET ME KNOW ASAP - NOW WOULD BE GOOD AS I CANNOT GET MY NORTON PASSWORD VAULT BACK!!!!
Chosen solution
You posted using Firefox 40.0.3, which is from August 27, 2015, so I don't think your Firefox updated.
What does appear to be updated is your Norton Identify Safe extension -- version 2015.5.6.76 is the November 3rd release. This release is supposed to be compatible with Firefox 40-42, but numerous users have reported glitches.
One workaround mentioned on the Norton forums is after launching Firefox, launch a second window using Ctrl+n, and the Norton toolbar should be visible in the second window. Does that work for you?
If not, unfortunately, it may be some time before Norton finishes its compatibility fixes.

According to the technical data that was submitted in your question, you are currently running Firefox 40.0.3. The current version of Firefox is version 42.0. This would mean that your browser has not been updated.
Please confirm you Firefox version number by checking the about page. For more information on doing this, please refer to this Mozilla support article:
As for your addon disappearing, please check to see if it is displayed in the addon manager (about:addons
). If it is, please try clicking the enable button and restarting Firefox.
Although it is not recommended, you can downgrade your Firefox to a previous version. For more information on this, please refer to this Mozilla support article:
Note: Old versions of Firefox may have serious security threats. Please use at your own risk.

This clearly explains my problem, and I can now see that Norton is the culprit. I appreciate you taking the time to explain the root of the problem. Thank you!

Wesley, thank you for your help. Checking for the "add-on" isn't the problem. I believe that the answer from the first poster is the correct solution to my problem.
I wish the Ctrl+N would have worked, but unfortunately it doesn't display the password vault. Thank you anyway for that idea.
