Why on Gods green earth can't I get rid of that ANNOYING options tab?
Options tab opens when I open Firefox, and I can't get rid of it. What brain surgeon there thought this would be a good idea?????? HOW EXACTLY do I get rid of it???
Chosen solution
One possible reason for this is if the Options page was added as a second "home tab" in which case it will show up in every new window (Ctrl+n) and anytime you click the Home button.
To check on that, you can switch over to the Options page, and select General in the left column. Toward the top of the page, in the Startup section, check the Home Page field:
Look for a vertical bar character separating two addresses. As a simple example with short URLs:
https://www.mozilla.org/|about:preferences
The bar definitely can be hard to spot with long URLs, but when you find it, delete everything to the right of the bar and then the bar itself (I suggest deleting the bar last so things don't accidentally get mushed together).
Was that it?
For reference, our article about this part of the Options page: Startup, home page, tabs, and download settings.
