Goodmorning,

I cannot access my on-line water billing (https://wss.amwater.com/selfservice-web/login.do). American Water, that is the IT department, says: " There are back-end issues that prohibit the usage of FF". What can they do to remedy this?

Thanks!

Without knowing what is going on, we can't really help. I'd suggest asking the website developers to contact us for help specifically with their problem. If they are using common web standards however, there should be few problems.

I can load that main page. Is the problem when you try to log in and use the site, or can you not even load that main page? If you can't load that main page, do you get a specific error message?

Also, on a different topic, the Question Details > More System Details next to your question shows that you either don't have the Flash plugin on your system or it is disabled in Firefox. If the site requires Flash, perhaps that is the problem?? For more information on Flash, see: Flash Plugin - Keep it up to date and troubleshoot problems.

Note that there is security software like Avast and Kaspersky and BitDefender and ESET that intercept secure connections and send their own certificate.

If you can't inspect the certificate via "I Understand the Risks" then try this:

Open the "Add Security Exception" window by pasting this chrome URL in the Firefox location/address bar and check the certificate:

  • chrome://pippki/content/exceptionDialog.xul

In the location field of this window type or paste the URL of the website.

  • retrieve the certificate via the "Get certificate" button
  • click the "View..." button to inspect the certificate in the Certificate Viewer

You can inspect details like the issuer and the certificate chain in the Details tab of the Certificate Viewer. Check who is the issuer of the certificate. If necessary then you can attach a screenshot that shows the certificate viewer.

Mote that there are some certificate issues:
