Hello everyone... I know I have written about this matter before but no progress has been made, I did receive a reply ( thank you) and I did delete and reinstall FF but nothing changed. When new updates are available I'm told I don't have rights to update and that I must see an administrator. Consequently I consult with myself often but to no avail. I am the administrator of both computers that have this problem. I set them up and only one other active account has been added, with my permission ,and there is an unused "clean" account. They are Mac computers, one has 10.7 and the other is Yosemite and FF is set on both to automatically update but i always have to go through the fiddle of manually updating. I think my third computer (10.6) is ok in this regard yet nothing is different on any of them regarding preferences or admin rights. There is nothing else i can do and I would love to know how to fix it but i think it must be something in the browser programme itself ?

Have you tried going to Firefox -> About Firefox in your top menu bar? Updates are slowly rolled up and not all at once.

Thanks Andrew. Yes I do look at About FF, it shows if it is up to date or if there are updates available which is sort of the point that if I have the Preferences set to auto update it should just happen but no matter which way it is attempted I'm instructed to go to the mozilla download page and do it manually. It's just annoying rather than a major problem. There is no obvious answer to it and as it's happening to 2 computers with different OS it tends to bring how FF operates into question. Would be so easy if auto worked and there is something insulting about being told you don't have Rights on your own computer !
