Hi,

I'm running the very latest stable version of Firefox on a fully up to date Arch Linux x64 install. Recently, Firefox has started doing this diagonal line tear while scrolling and it's seriously impacting my browsing experience. Any ideas how to resolve it? I have tried enabling/disabling hardware acceleration to no avail.

Thanks, linuxman95

Can you attach a screenshot?

  • use a compressed image type like PNG or JPG to save the screenshot
  • make sure you do not exceed the maximum size of 1 MB

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
  • Do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Safe Mode start window

Unfortunately, I cannot post a screenshot as the tearing disappears when I stop scrolling.

I am already using the default theme, I will use safe mode for a bit and see if it helps. Thanks!

The issue remains present in Safe Mode, I visited http://www.theverge.com/ and the issue remained.

Just a heads up, this issue is not present in Google Chrome Version 51.0.2704.103 (64-bit).
